SL Relay For Life 2008 Kick Off Party

And let the Relay Begin! That's right its time for Second Life's Relay for Life 2008 and that means a lot of us Second Lifers will get together with friends to donate or some of us others will start special fundraisers going towards Relay For Life. This is my absolute favorite time of year and you should hear more from me about it. This time I plan to join a group and become active so I can participate in this special event.

Anyways the Second Life RFL 2008 Kick Off Party took place on last Sunday on the 17th. The sim was completely filled with SLers listening to the SLRFL's Staff making their speeches to the public. The fundraisers will take place around SL until this July. The SLRFL will finish with the SLRFL Overnight Relay on July 19 and 20th. All of the team members will be attending their campsites which will be held on 35 sims connected together bordering the SLRFL Track. Live music will be held and special events will take place as well.

Our goal is to raise $150,000 USD this year going towards Relay For Life and before the Kick Off Party there was already 60 fundraiser groups registered. This was the first year the SLRFL Committee had to cap the volunteer groups to a certain number. But the number keeps on rising higher and higher. At first it was capped at 50 groups...then 60 and now 70 and possibly 80! One Corporate team committed to RFL of SL and a $5000 Corporate Team donation! GE Healthcare is the First Corporate Sponsor of RFL of SL.

Cancer keeps on becoming more and more apparent to all of us SLers and we need to find the cure. So lets make this year BETTER than EVER.

The Abyss Store

Alright many of you people already know of the store The Abyss. The store just keeps on surprises me with each detailed product such as the skins, hair, attachments and clothing. I am a huge skin fanatic and love to see new skins coming out especially for us male SLers. It is hard to come by finding the perfect skin or a skin close enough to perfection. The Abyss totally delivers and dominates the male skin market. There just doesn't seem to be enough designers for the male market of skins.

When I first entered The Abyss I had no clue what to expect at first. The atmosphere sets the mood of the designers products leaving that eerie glow in the clouds and the apocalyptic buildings. There was not much to offer at first but one male skin pigment and then soon came to be two more to be offered. Later on there was an additional male skin added which features scars, a vampire-like bloody lips, and that grungy dirty look you get from blowing up a building with C-4. They are all on the gothic-pale style pigment skin so far and I'm sure there will be more pigments for this set. Each set has 16 choices to choose from or you can have the choice for a special segment of 4 skins for cheaper price at $4800. Each skin is priced at $2000 and it is well worth the investment. Or you can buy all 16 skins on each set for L$14999 which saves you well over L$17,000. The skins that are currently offered are : Scorpio Origin, Osiris, Ra, and Dystopia.

The female skins are beautifully made as well in which for those who like that natural beauty or that sexy glam...this skin has it all. With many pigments to choose from and different style makeups to select you can't go wrong. Each skin set at L$1400 and $3800 for 4 skins its quite a wise choice to upgrade. The skins that are currently offered are: Jadzia Noxious SRSS, Noxious LSSP, Illicit, Sol, Muse and Muse Optima.

I was stunned seeing the vendors with the animated pictures showing off the details of each product. The hair is superb with beautifully made textures and sculpted prims thrown in for a luxurious modern SL style. Each hair features 13 different colors to choose from whether it is a natural color or vibrant colors you can choose from either of your likings.

Next is the clothing line with that grungy feel and also clothing fit for that need for speed. Each item of clothing is handcrafted with perfection in mind. The prim attachments are also killer to look at. Such as the prim spiked collars, combat belt, goggles, gas masks and boots each one is textured at high quality.

So check out this store and it features my current favorite male skin in Second Life and not only buy for your avatar but invest for your avatars appearance.

Thumb Your Nose At Cancer Fundraiser

So I was approached by my good friend earlier this month, stpaulsub Clio (aka Clio), and she sent me a notecard about something she did years back called Clowning Around SL where she had many familiar faces of SL's residents wearing a clown nose. It was a big event and was quite successful with many volunteers. Well now this time she is starting a fundraiser with the same concept called Thumb Your Nose At Cancer. This fundraiser will be a part of Relay For Life (RFL) and so far the fundraiser is a great success. She has raised around L$47k within over a week. I am ecstatic to see the outcome of her fundraiser and to see the happy faces she will bring with her sense of humor with a great cause. I can honestly say that I am proud to be a part of this fundraiser and I will continue on supporting it.

As a Second Life resident we can really show the world what a virtual world can have affect to our real world. Not only does it unite everybody in the United States but everyone from around the world volunteers and acts as an United Earth. I have many friends from around the world now that I interact with and learn new languages and different cultures. But in the end we are all nearly the same in some kind of way. Millions of people from around the world have joined Second Life and the numbers keep on growing widely.

Anyways Relay For Life needs your help and contributing to Thumb Your Nose At Cancer will be your first step. Whether its L$100 or L$1,000,000 it all plays a big part of this fundraiser. All you have to do is simply Instant Message (IM) stpaulsub Clio in Second Life and she can set up an appointment for a photoshoot of your avatar with the unique clown nose she gives to each participant and donate to her kiosk. Each picture will be posted up showing all of the faces of each person whom participated in this fundraiser.

Aphotic Gloom Decked Out II - Finally Released!

My hot seller Decked Out Turntables/Mixing Board finally has a new friend! These silver tinted decks are all made by hand in Photoshop taking endless hours to accomplish this project. This set includes the AG-TR1200 Mixing Board, AG-RP7585 Turntables which rotate with a stationary shine effect unlike others. Not only that but it is Windlight Glo Ready. Watch the mixing board EQ's bounce up and down to the beat of your music as the Detachable Mixer Light shines off of it in the night club.

The mixing board and turntables may also be purchased separately as well but you save money when purchasing them together in one package. This is a great product for any clubs or DJs who would love a piece of some of the finest turntables in SL.

New at Aphotic Gloom in 2008

So time has been passing by slipping through my fingers as I have been doing absolutely nothing but work and slacking at home. I decided to finally put out my AG-218 Microphone and my Wrist Cuffs on the market just for the hell of it. They have been sitting in my inventory for personal use and I wanted to make it for the public to have. I did some modifications to the AG-218 Mic making it able to have shout-mic capabilities as well as temp-rezzer options. There are 3 styles of mics in this package one with extended stand, another with a short stand, and the other for DJ style mic stand. I wanted to compete with other prices and giving it extra options with its high quality look for one low price.

The wrist cuffs come in 3 different colors sold separately each included spiked or non-spiked (standard) versions. They can be found in SL in game for under $100L.

Welcome to my Blog

It's obvious I have nothing else better to do right now besides writing a blog over the net. Any ways I own the store Aphotic Gloom in Second Life and I design whatever comes to my mind. I started off back in 2004 messing around with Paint Shop Pro and Photoshop and I really have not even touched any of them two programs in my life. I designed a couple things of clothing and started doing custom orders for friends. After that I helped start a group with Foxy Xevious called Bedazzle http://www.bedazzlestudios.com/ and did small object designs (noobish) for Sim Horror. Later on I was told by a friend that a friend of hers needed a builder for her sim, Miami Beach aka Caliente City. So I was the main builder for a while until Wuvme Karuna decided to help build and so on from there. After that happened I decided to design a store which wasn't all that great but it was a start of where I am today. Aphotic Gloom was originally going to be a second store for particles but I decided to stop the whole store thing and take a break. During that break I helped design What Girls Wear store and was inspired to design turntables and also I was working with (NSS) Natural Selection Studios http://www.naturalselectionstudios.com/ and did a few videos in which I designed my microphone, headphones and a mic mixing board which hasn't been released yet. After all that that leaves me to where I am now and I plan on making Vlogs on YouTube as well. http://www.youtube.com/aphoticgloom So check me out sometime and stay tuned to my Blogs, Vlogs for Aphotic Gloom
